Description

Public Property is a dark comedy commenting on the state of television and news reporting in a celebrity-obsessed age. When popular newsreader Geoffrey Hammond gets caught by photographers in a sexual act with a 16 year-old boy, it is up to his publicist Larry to spin him out of a tricky situation. Locked in a house and with the paparazzi wolves at the door, an unexpected powerplay unfolds between the two men.

An excerpt of “Public Property”, which was originally planned as an idea for a short film, was showcased at the Hampstead Theatre Start Night on the 31st July 2007. As a result of this it was developed in association with Old Vic New Voices and had a rehearsed reading at the Old Vic on the 3rd June 2008.
A full production ran at the Trafalgar Studios from the 10th Nov - 5th Dec 2009, starring Nigel Harman, Robert Daws and Steven Webb, directed by Hanna Berrigan. It was nominated as Best New Comedy in the 2010 WhatsOnStage Awards.
