To celebrate in this 453rd Anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth and his writing’s continuing and expanding popularity, the Instant Shakespeare Company will present present an interactive event on Monday, April 24th at 5 pm to hear and share some of the favorite speeches, scenes and Sonnets. In addition, there will be readings the portions from the play Sir Thomas More which are believed to be by Shakespeare (Hand D), since this year is the 500th Anniversary of the Evil May Day riot that is depicted where Shakespeare (through Thomas More) speaks up for immigrants. The event is free and open to the public.
There will be selections from all of his plays featured with an opportunity for all to wish to participate. Members of the Instant Shakespeare Company will discuss and demonstrate some of the Original Practices involved in working with the original First Folio and Quarto texts and using Original Pronunciation. There will be an opportunity to share your favorite bit of Shakespeare or to read one of the selections that will be drawn from all 39 of Shakespeare’s plays.
Paul Sugarman is the founder of the Instant Shakespeare Company which is now in its 18th Season of presenting free readings of ALL of Shakespeare’s plays annually. He is also the publisher of Puck Press which produces pocket editions for all of Shakespeare’s plays in their First Folio and Quarto settings updated in modern type, as well as other books relating to Shakespeare and popular culture such as Come You Spirits! The Supernatural World of Shakespeare. He is an actor who has performed with Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA and Actors Shakespeare Company in NJ.
