Four Plays by Conor McPherson

It's pretty simple: an actor gets on a stool and tells a story. Minimal set, lights, costumes, props. Conor McPherson believes storytelling is dramatic enough an activity to hold your interest, to bring you uncertainty, to leave you changed. It's hard to know whether form follows function or vice versa, but who cares when you've got McPherson's sharp tongue and eye for detail?

Dig in; it doesn't take long until you're swinging around hairpin curves with his characters, hoping their hopes and holding your breath as they drink, fight, steal, and make bad decisions while hanging onto the idea they'll become bigger, better people somehow.

You need a good actor. If you've got that (or you are that), these dark and riveting plays may not save your audience, but it just might sear them into a new sort of alertness.

Characters: One play has 3M, the others have 1.
Scenes/Monologues: Are you a man?
