The Roundabout Theatre Company in association with Chocolate Factory Productions and Sonia Friedman Productions present
the Menier Chocolate Factory production of
by Tom Stoppard
directed by Patrick Marber
with Tom Hollander
Travesties returns to Broadway in a "near-miraculous production" of "mind-bending splendor" (The New York Times). In 1917 Zurich, an artist, Tristan Tzara; a writer, James Joyce; and a revolutionary, Lenin, collide in a kaleidoscopic thrill-ride that's "wickedly playful, intensely entertaining, infectiously theatrical" (Time Out London).
Roundabout reunites with playwright Tom Stoppard (Indian Ink, The Real Thing) and director Patrick Marber (Howard Katz, After Miss Julie) for a dazzling revival from London's Menier Chocolate Factory (Sunday in the Park with George).
American Airlines Theater, 227 West 42nd Street. Previews begin March 29, 2018. Opens April 24, 2018.
Set in Zürich, Switzerland, Travesties centers on English consular official Henry Carr, who is based in the city during Wold War I and living amongst some very interesting people. Henry crosses paths with the likes of the communist revolutionary Lenin, Irish author James Joyce and the founder of Dadism, Tristan Tzara. Each encounter brings its own hilarious moments, unlike anything you have seen before. Travesties stars Tom Hollander who is well known for his work on stage and screen, notably in Pirates of the Caribbean and the 2013 fantasy drama About Time.
